    Ingredients
    Apple Sauce Cake:
    • 1 ⅔cups sifted flour
    • 1 ⅓cups sugar
    • ¼teaspoon double-action baking powder
    • 1teaspoon baking soda
    • ¾teaspoon salt
    • ½teaspoon cinnamon
    • ¼teaspoon cloves
    • ¼teaspoon allspice
    • cup shortening
    • cup water
    • cup chopped nuts
    • cup raisins
    • 1cup Tree Top Apple Sauce
    • 1 egg
    Fluffy Orange Icing:
    • 1 – 3oz package cream cheese
    • 1 ½cups sifted confectioners sugar
    • 1 Orange
    Instructions
    1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Sift into bowl: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and allspice. Set aside dry. Combine shortening, water and apple sauce into bowl. Beat ingredients vigorously with spoon for 2 minutes, or mix with electric mixer on slow to medium speed for 2 minutes. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl frequently. Add egg and continue beating 2 more minutes, scraping bowl frequently. Combine in dry ingredients, fold in nuts and raisins. Grease generously and dust with flour 1 square pan (9″x9″x2″). Bake 50 to 55 minutes. Cool in pan and frost with Fluffy Orange Icing. Fluffy Orange Icing: Cream one 3 oz package cream cheese until light and fluffy. Gradually add 1 ½ cups sifted confectioners sugar. Beat well. Stir in grated rind of 1 orange (1 tbsp). If too thick to spread, add a few drops of orange juice.
